When you've just ordered a domain name or hosting, you naturally want to get started right away. A domain name is registered immediately after your order. In most cases your domain name is actually active within a few hours. For some extensions it can take a little longer, 24 to 48 hours.
Read the full articleWhat is a premium domain name?
A premium domain name is a domain name that is worth considerably more than a non-generic domain name. That's why it's called Premium. Premium domain names come in two variants:
- Domain names from older extensions with a very good generic name, such as auto.nl or candy.com, that have been registered for many years. Because these domain names have already built up a lot of 'value' and are very generic, they're worth much more money in a sale than a non-generic domain name.
- New gTLD domain names, involving a very generic name or company name that isn't registered yet but is expected to gain a lot of value. The registration price of these domain names can run up to several thousand euros. Examples of such premium domain names are gold.watch or healthy.club.
What does a domain name cost?
What a domain name costs depends on the extension. At my.host you see right away for every extension what registering, renewing and transferring cost, so there are never any surprises.
Check your domain nameWhy do prices differ per extension?
Every extension is managed by its own registry, such as SIDN for .nl and DNS Belgium for .be. Those registries set their own rates. That is why a .nl domain costs something different from a .shop or an .ai. We charge a sharp price for every extension and always show up front what you pay.
Registering, renewing and transferring
Registering secures your domain name for the first year. After that you renew it every year. For some extensions the first year is on offer; the table then shows right away what renewing costs afterwards. If you move a domain name from another provider to my.host, you pay the transfer rate. For a number of extensions, such as .nl, transferring is free.
Including or excluding VAT
Business customers often prefer prices excluding VAT, private customers including. With the VAT choice on the page you decide how the rates are shown. We remember your preference.
What is included in the price?
With every domain name you get free DNS management, you can forward it to another web address at no extra cost and you manage everything in our control panel. You pay no setup costs, unless stated explicitly.
