Change the registrant details of your domain name
Changing your domain name details
Sometimes you may want to change the details of your domain name. For example, if you have multiple domains, or manage domains for other people or clients. Think of the domain holder, technical contact, or administrative contact.
In this knowledge base article, we will explain how you can change your domain details. To do this, we will create a new domain profile and then link it to your domain name.
Popular extensions where a change cannot be made via our control panel include:
.be, .se, .es, .fi, .hk, .hu, .sr, .ca, .lu, .ru, .sg
Please note that some registrars may charge a fee.
Create domain profile
First, we create a new domain profile. Click on domain names in the top left of the start page of our control panel. Then hover over 'Domain names' and select 'My domain profiles', and then click on 'New Domain profile'.
Enter the following details in the new window. Under 'Profile name', enter a name that is 'easily recognizable' to you. For example, Own Domain, Client Name, etc. And choose whether you are registering it under a private or business name.
Then fill in the requested details. Make sure you enter the phone numbers correctly, otherwise you may get an error message when you want to assign the domain to this profile.
See this example for a correctly configured domain profile.
After that, you can specify some options that will be automatically used when ordering or transferring a domain name to us.
For example, if you always want to have this new profile for the technical and administrative contacts of all your domain names, you can check that box. If you always want this profile as the domain holder, you check that box.
If you do not want this, you leave the box unchecked so that you can manually choose how to assign your domain profiles per domain.
In this example, we choose to uncheck everything, because we want our other "default" profile to always be used for new orders.
Click on Save Changes.
