About .fi-domain name
The Finnish national domain .fi has been managed by the Finnish Communications Authority, FICORA, since 1997. FICORA ensures that the basic legal needs of telecommunications reach everyone, even in the remote areas of Finland. Besides domain registration, FICORA also manages telephony, radio, television, and the postal service.

Only individuals and organizations with an address in Finland or a strong connection to Finland are allowed to own a .fi domain. Anyone aged 15 or older with a Finnish ID and address can register a .fi domain. Companies, organizations, and foundations registered with the 'National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland' are also eligible.
The domain name can be freely chosen, as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others and is not a combination of first and last names, unless it is the name of the owner or the company. FICORA actively monitors this, and misuse can lead to cancellation by the registry.
International Domain Names (IDN)
Finland supports the use of special characters in domain names, known as Internationalized Domain Names (IDN). All characters from the Finnish alphabet can be used, and mijn.host can register and manage your .fi IDNs.
