Free .nl domain name transfer
At mijn.host, it is possible to transfer your .nl domain name to us for free. This is because SIDN (the registry for .nl domain names) does not charge fees for transferring .nl domains between registrars. Because mijn.host is an accredited registrar with SIDN, we can also offer this to our customers free of charge.
For the registration of a new .nl domain name, you do pay for a year immediately.
How do I know in advance when I have to pay for the renewal?
It is possible to see the exact expiration date of your domain name in the SIDN database even before the transfer. To do this, you must already be a customer with us.
Are you not a customer yet? Then create an account via this link: https://mijn.host/registreren/
This way, you can immediately see the expiration date should you wish to transfer.
When you have added the domain name to your shopping cart, you have the option to enter the transfer code before you complete the order.
After you enter this transfer code, the exact expiration date will be shown, as in the example below:
I still received an invoice after the transfer of my .nl domain name
In that case, you transferred the domain name to us shortly before the expiration date and your domain name had to be renewed in the SIDN database. You therefore pay us for the renewal of your domain name for a year. If you already paid for this renewal at your previous provider right before the transfer, you could ask them for a refund, because they did not actually incur any costs for the transfer of your domain name.
In my shopping cart it says I still have to pay € 0.01 for the transfer
For new customers who do not yet have an account with mijn.host, we charge € 0.01 for the transfer of the domain name. We do this to verify your payment method. If you want to transfer many domain names, it is advisable to transfer 1 domain name first, so that you then have an account with us. You can transfer the remaining domain names after you have completed your first order.
Can I transfer my .nl domain name for free if it is already in quarantine?
Every registrar has to pay money to SIDN to take a domain name out of quarantine. Through SIDN, it is cheaper to do this via the current registrar, i.e. where your domain is already registered, than via the new provider.
It is best to contact your current provider and ask if they can take the domain name out of quarantine, and what the costs are. The costs you pay do include one year of registration.
So if you do this via your current provider, you can then simply transfer the domain name for free and we will also take over the new date. And then you will only pay for the renewal at mijn.host in a year's time.
Optionally, we can submit a request to SIDN to take your domain name out of quarantine. This is generally more expensive than arranging it directly with the current provider. If your current provider charges more than what we ask, you can also submit the request directly through us. Please note that we will then need additional verification. This means that you must be able to prove that the domain is registered in your name. You then submit a request to us to take it out of quarantine, whwhereby you agree to the costs. Additionally, a copy of an ID must be provided.
To safely make a copy that we need to show to SIDN, you can go to this government site:
