Here is already the fourth edition of our development blog. September was all about Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, own registrar connections for .dk and .no, and more control over your VPS. Additionally, improvements to the order process, DNS, and the API.
Major updates
September mainly brought three major updates: the Scandinavian languages on my.host, .dk and .no directly at the registry, and a more extensive VPS. More about that below.
Denmark, Norway, and Sweden
In August, my.host went live in English. In September, Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish were added: website, control panel, knowledge base, blog, and emails.
A few things that come with it:
- Prices in Danish kroner, Norwegian kroner, and Swedish kronor, from a separate price list per country.
- In Denmark and Norway, we display shop prices including VAT by default. In the shopping cart, you can see which part is VAT.
- Based on your IP, you will be directed to the correct language.
- Revolut Pay is also available in the Nordic markets.
- In Sweden, you can pay with Swish. It is a one-time payment, not a direct debit.
- The language of the control panel follows the site where you log in, and you can change it later.
For customers on my.host, the Dutch site does not change. We wrote a separate news article about the branch in Copenhagen.
Own registrar for .dk and .no
After SIDN (.nl), DNS Belgium (.be), and Internetstiftelsen (.nu and .se), we now manage .dk and .no domain names directly at the registry, without an intermediary.
.dk via Punktum
New .dk registrations and transfers run via Punktum. Transfers are free. Once you complete the Fast-Track Transfer with Punktum, you will continue in our checkout. New registrations immediately get DNSSEC enabled, and during ordering, you confirm that we manage the domain as registrar.
.no via Norid
We register .no domains directly with Norid. If you register the domain in your own name, you fill out the Norid applicant declaration per order. If you do not have a Norwegian address or organization number, you can choose the trustee service. We then register the domain on your behalf.
Virtual Private Servers
This month, a lot has been added to the VPS, both in the control panel and via the API:
- An IPv4 firewall, configurable in the control panel and via the API.
- Store and use SSH keys with an unmanaged VPS.
- Floating IPs: reserve an extra IPv4 address or IPv6 subnet, attach it to a VPS and detach it again.
- Order extra IPv4 addresses or add them later.
- Select the location during ordering. In the overview, you see the country and the place of the data center.
- Multiple VPSs in one order each get their own root password.
- The standard DDoS option is labeled as 10 Gbps protection.
- A VPC (private network) is now also manageable via the API. It was already possible in the control panel.
Webmail in our house style
The webmail on webmail.my.host has a new look. Instead of the default theme, it now runs on a custom theme in the house style of my.host. Mail, calendar, and contacts work the same; mainly the design is different. A dark mode has also been added, just like in the control panel. Handy if you read your mail in the evening.
Don’t like the new design? Feel free to switch back to the old theme via the settings.
API
The new VPS components are also available as endpoints:
- SSH keys:

- Floating IPs:

Accessibility
We have continued with color and contrast on the website, control panel, and blog. In addition, several display issues in Firefox have been resolved, including animations and the VAT bar. The goal remains full WCAG AA compliance.
Other updates and bug fixes
Domain names / DNS
- An invalid phone number or an invalid postal code receives a clear message, instead of a general error.
- .us and .music domain orders require the additional information mandated by the registry.
- Invisible spaces and other hidden characters are filtered from DNS records upon saving.
- Redirect domains with an international domain name (IDN) synchronize correctly again.
- You can disable whitelabel on a .nl domain per domain again.
- For .se and .nu domains, we send an email if the registry requests holder verification.
- If there is already a pending checkout, you receive a notification instead of adding the same domain to the cart again.
- Without an account, you can already set up WHOIS information, nameservers, and DNS in the shopping cart.
- Through the API, you can retrieve nameservers for a domain order, and start a .be transfer if the domain is already on the account for a holder change.
Ordering and invoices
- When signing up and checking out, you can look up and auto-fill your address, even outside the Netherlands.
- The shopping cart loads faster.
- Invoices display the amount in the currency in which you paid.
Control panel / website
- Searching the knowledge base follows the language of the page.
- A suspended dedicated server can no longer be managed until the suspension is lifted.
In summary
And that was September already: Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish on my.host, .dk and .no directly with the registry, and a VPS where you manage firewall, SSH keys, floating IPs, and location yourself.
And as usual: do you have questions or a good idea? We’d love to hear it. Submit it as an idea in the feedback module, as a comment on this blog, or simply via a support ticket. Hopefully, we’ll see you again next month for a new dev blog!
