The internet and ICT sector consumes a lot of energy, but my.host takes responsibility by offering only 100% green hosting, which is verified by an independent organization. In addition to providing green hosting, they have also taken other initiatives to minimize the impact on the environment.
Only Green Hosting
my.host’s hosting packages run on 100% renewable energy at the Equinix AM6 data center in Amsterdam. This data center makes multiple efforts in the field of sustainability and aims to be climate neutral by 2030. Additionally, my.host exclusively uses efficient HP Gen10 servers, which score well on sustainability according to a Greenpeace study. HP also aims to be climate neutral by 2040.
Temperature and Waste Heat
Efforts are currently underway to supply waste heat from the AM6 data center to a portion of homes and buildings in Overamstel. This is the first project in Amsterdam where data center heat is used on a large scale as a source for a collective low temperature heating and cooling network*. Equinix has also increased the temperature of its data centers to 27 degrees to reduce energy consumption without affecting the equipment**.

Own Efforts
my.host goes further with its own efforts to keep their footprint as minimal as possible. Most work is done remotely, reducing commuting significantly, and the office uses only 100% green energy from the Netherlands. Equipment is recycled, and waste is separated. The company’s capital is deposited only with a sustainable bank.
