my.host launches Dutch Public Cloud

Today we are launching the Public Cloud – an important milestone that our entire team has been working hard towards recently. With this, we aim to provide a solution for the growing demand for Dutch cloud solutions. The infrastructure is fully sovereign and complies with both European and Dutch legislation.

The Public Cloud offers users all the tools to set up their own virtual data center. Think of creating virtual machines (VMs), setting up private networks, firewalls, load balancers, and virtual routers. You have full control over the infrastructure, without being dependent on foreign providers or closed platforms.

The platform is built on the open-source system Apache CloudStack™. This makes us the first company in the Netherlands to use this technology as a Public Cloud with exclusively Dutch infrastructure.

Dutch solution

The public cloud of my.host is designed with data sovereignty as a starting point. All data remains within the Netherlands and falls fully under Dutch and European legislation. For the platform, we chose Apache CloudStack™ because of its open-source nature and reliability. CloudStack® is a powerful platform that is used worldwide for managing cloud environments.

In the coming months, we will gradually expand our cloud platform further with, among other things, Object Storage and Managed Kubernetes, so that we can also meet the growing demand of our customers for modern, scalable services that are easy to use.

Sustainably built

The cloud platform operates in the Equinix AM6 data center in Amsterdam, which manages power very efficiently and uses 100% renewable energy. Additionally, we have selected hardware that is energy-efficient. With this, we aim to contribute to a future-proof digital infrastructure that is not only powerful but also responsible. In the future, we will expand the cloud platform to multiple data centers, where you can choose your own zones. In this expansion, sustainability remains central to our choices.

Redundancy and reliability

To guarantee maximum availability and reliability, our Public Cloud is redundantly built using Ceph for distributed storage and High Availability (HA) on all critical components. This means that both storage and compute resources automatically continue to function in the event of a node or component failure. Thanks to this architecture, data is always available, and workloads continue running without interruption.

We have chosen to price the Public Cloud competitively, in a manner that is fair and transparent. Our rates are in line with those of other European cloud providers, with transparent rates that can be viewed at any time in our control panel.

Everyone can now try our platform without obligation with a free credit of € 200 per customer. This credit is automatically awarded as soon as you start using our Public Cloud service, without commitments or fine print. This way, you can get started immediately and experience how the platform works for yourself, whether you’re setting up a simple test environment or already running serious workloads.
