SpamExperts spam filter not working

Do you have SpamExperts enabled for your domain name, and are you still receiving a lot of spam in your Inbox? In this article, we explain how you can solve this.

It is possible that your order for SpamExperts was not successfully completed. To check this, log in to the mijn.host control panel. Next, click on your domain name, and at the very bottom you can check whether SpamExperts is active:

In the image above, you can see that SpamExperts is active. If this is not the case, but you did enable SpamExperts, you can contact our customer service so we can resolve this.

Check the DNS settings of your domain name

For SpamExperts to work correctly, it is important that the MX records of your domain name point to the SpamExperts servers. If the mail does not reach the SpamExperts servers, the mail will not be filtered either. It is therefore essential that this is set correctly. Normally, this should be automatically configured correctly after you have enabled SpamExperts, but in some cases, the MX records might not be set correctly yet.

To check this, log in to the mijn.host control panel. Then click on your domain name in the overview and click on the DNS settings tab.

In the following image, you see an example of incorrect MX records:

Please note: the above MX record is correct if you have not set up SpamExperts.

If the MX records for your domain name are set as in the image above, and you do have an active SpamExperts for your domain, then this is the reason your mail is not being filtered correctly. In that case, you can remove the MX record and add the following 2 MX records:

Name: empty
Priority: 10
Value: mx1.mijn.host

Name: empty
Priority: 20
Value: mx2.mijn.host

In the screenshot below, you can see how the MX records are set correctly for the domain name.
