Effectively blocking spam is quite complex nowadays, and advanced systems are needed for proper filtering. Based on feedback from our customers, it appeared that with the standard spam filter spam still occasionally ended up in the inbox. At my.host, we continuously strive to improve our services for our customers. Therefore, we have some positive news to share!
We have implemented a new spam filter within our infrastructure. We have chosen to utilize SpamExperts’ spam filtering software. This is a fairly expensive premium service, and SpamExperts is a leader in spam filtering.
Free for all hosting packages
Because we believe a good spam filter should be standard, we now offer the premium spam filter free with all hosting packages!

How does the spam filter work?
The new spam filter can be seen as an extra layer. Previously, spam was handled by the filter software on the hosting server itself. Now, this is done on separate servers. We use 2 servers (Filtering Servers) for email filtering. These servers run entirely within our network, so your mail reaches our servers and not those of a third party. On these servers, advanced SpamExperts software runs to filter your email. As soon as an email arrives at one of these servers, the filtering software will determine, based on advanced algorithms, whether the email should be marked as spam or if it is a valid email. If the software determines the email is valid, it is then forwarded from the filtering server to the final hosting server (Destination server), where your hosting package is located.
If the spam filter decides that the received email should be marked as spam, the email is not forwarded and remains on the filtering server in a separate quarantine folder. You can also view these emails yourself.
Watch the video below for a more technical explanation of how the spam filter works. This video is in English.
Manage the spam filter yourself
You can manage the new spam filter yourself and see which emails are in the quarantine folder.
- Log in to your hosting package in DirectAdmin.
- Then click on “Premium spam filter” under “Extra Features”.
- You will be redirected to a separate environment where you can manage the spam filter. From this system, you can also see which emails are in quarantine and, if necessary, have the relevant emails forwarded to your inbox.
