Website address shows "Domain taken" page

Have you ordered a domain name with us? Then by default you will see the "Domain taken" page from mijn.host when requesting the website address in your browser:

Domain taken page

This means that you have registered a domain name with us, but do not yet have a web hosting package for it.

I do have web hosting

Do you have web hosting, but still see this page? In most cases, this can have 2 causes:

  • Domain name has not yet been added to hosting
  • DNS settings do not point to the correct mijn.host server

Domain name has not yet been added to hosting

If you already have a hosting package, you may still need to add this domain name to your hosting package. In this article you can read how to add the domain name to your hosting package.

Has your domain name already been added to your hosting package, but you are still seeing the "Domain taken" page? Then read on below.

DNS settings do not point to the correct mijn.host server

If the above solution does not work, your domain name is probably not connecting to the correct server where your hosting package is located. It is best to reset the DNS settings of your domain name, so this is set correctly automatically. Read this article on how to manage the DNS settings of your domain name. Once you are on this page, click the Options > Reset DNS to default values button at the bottom of the page:

Reset DNS to default values

Would you rather not reset the DNS settings? Then you can also just change the A and AAAA records to the IP addresses of your hosting package. You can also find these IP addresses in the control panel, to do this navigate to Hosting > Click on your hosting > Scroll down to "Advanced settings".

Keep in mind that a DNS change can take up to 1 hour. So it may take a while before the changes are visible.

If it still does not work after these changes, feel free to contact our customer support so we can investigate this further for you.
