Installing WordPress on web hosting

WordPress is an open-source Content Management System (CMS). With WordPress, you can create your own website relatively easily. At mijn.host, it is possible to easily set up your own WordPress website. In this article, we explain how you can get started with this right away.

Register your domain name with WordPress hosting

To get started, you need to have your own domain name with web hosting. You can order this via this link.

Installing WordPress

If you have WordPress web hosting, we can start installing WordPress. To do this, log in to the control panel.

Go to the Webhosting tab and click on the hosting package where the WordPress installation should run.

Now click on Apps > Install new app to go to all apps. WordPress is at the top.

Click on the icon on the right to start the installation immediately.

A popup will appear in which a number of fields need to be filled in.

• Domain name
  This field is already filled in with the domain name of the hosting package. This cannot be changed.
• Site name
  This will be the name of the WordPress site.
• Site description
  The description is visible on the WordPress website by default, this can be turned off later if desired. We recommend entering a good description.
• Install in folder
  If desired, it is possible to install the WordPress website in a subfolder. For example, if you want to show the WordPress installation under this URL sitenaam.nl/blog, enter blog in this field.
  Leave the field empty if the website needs to be installed in the main folder.
• App language
  Select the desired language for the WordPress installation. The CMS will then be displayed in this language. This can be changed later in WordPress.

Once the above fields are filled in, the installation can begin. Click the Install button to start.

Within a few seconds, the Wordpress installation will be available at your specified URL.

Logging into the Wordpress CMS is done via /wp-admin. For example www.uw-domein.nl/wp-admin.

Use the username and password that you specified during the installation.
