Activate CDN for your WordPress site

Do you want to use a Content Delivery Network or CDN with your WordPress hosting? Then this knowledge base article can help you on your way.

CDN in short 

A CDN ensures that copies of your content (site) are stored on many servers worldwide. This ensures that a visitor gets to see your website faster because there is already a copy on a nearby server. WordPress offers free QUIC.cloud CDN to all users of the platform, every package includes 10GB of CDN data per month.

Before you begin, it's good to know that it's best to set up the CDN during a quiet time. This is because during the activation of the CDN, your website may temporarily be less accessible.

Step 1

Ensure that the Litespeed Cache plugin is active within your WordPress installation. Is the Litespeed Cache plugin not active yet? Then you can download it via the WordPress dashboard, click on plugins at the bottom left and then search for the Litespeed Cache plugin. Make sure you have turned on the CDN before you start with the rest of the steps.

Step 2

Now connect to QUIC.cloud via the Litespeed Cache plugin and click on Go to the QUIC.cloud dashboard. You will now be redirected to the QUIC.cloud site to create an account. Now enter your email address in the screen, then click on Sign in/up. Then enter a password and click on Register. If all that succeeded, go to your email to view the validation email.Click on Activate Account to activate your account. You will then see that the activation was successful, then click on My Dashboard. 

Step 3

It is now time to link your domain name to QUIC.cloud. In the dashboard, you can click on My Domains at the top right and then you will see the option How to Add New Domain.

Link domain to user
Add DNS records
Select domain

Select CDN Turn on CDN

In the screenshot below, we create the record with the name "wordpress" so this is on "wordpress.your-domain.nl" with type CNAME, if your website uses the www-domain (like www.your-domain.nl) then you should create the record with the name "www" and not with the name "wordpress".

If you do not use the www-domain for your WordPress site, but only the root domain (like your-domain.nl) create the record with type ALIAS without a name.
