Request a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate
On all mijn.host web hosting packages we offer support for Let's Encrypt. With this, you can request a certificate for your website free of charge. This involves a standard certificate, so that the website functions properly over a secure connection.
In this manual we explain how the Let's Encrypt certificate can be installed on our web hosting servers.
There are two methods to request an SSL certificate, method 1 is only for regular hosting packages. Method 2 is for both regular hosting packages and hosting resellers.
Please note that you can only request a free SSL certificate if you also have a hosting package. If you only have a domain with mijn.host and an external hosting package, then you must request the certificate externally.
Method 1: via the control panel
Please note: this method is not for reseller hosting, in that case go to method 2. Via this method, all regular hosting packages can request an SSL certificate.
Step 1
Log in to our control panel via mijn.host/cp. Then go to your hosting package by clicking on "Hosting" in the menu bar.
Step 2
Click on your hosting package and then on certificates. Choose the domain for which you want to create a certificate here and click on Create Certificate. A popup will appear. In the dropdown, select "Request free Let's Encrypt certificate". And select the desired subdomains.
If you also have POP/IMAP accounts on our server, and you use for example mail.*** as the incoming/outgoing server in your mail client, select this subdomain as well, so your mail client can make a secure connection without any problems.
Method 2: via DirectAdmin
Via this method you request an SSL certificate via DirectAdmin. This method is for both regular packages and resellers.
Step 1
Log in to our control panel via mijn.host/cp
Step 2
Click on your hosting package and then Open DirectAdmin.
Step 3
Within DirectAdmin, go to Account Manager and then SSL Certificates.
Step 4
Then click on Get automatic certificate from ACME Provider and check the options you want on your certificate. Advice: domainname.tld, www.domainname.tld, mail.domainname.tld. If you also have subdomains such as staging or test, you can check those as well.
If you created new subdomains after requesting a certificate, you can do the SSL request again and check the subdomains. Follow the same steps and then check the subdomains.
Click Save to create your SSL. Your site and mail are now secured.
Optional: It is also possible to request a wildcard certificate here, to do this click the "Wildcard" checkbox behind the domain name. Please note: the request for a wildcard certificate will only complete successfully if the domain name is registered with us. Or in the case of an external domain name, the nameservers must be set to the nameservers of the hosting package. Due to the gesensitivity with renewing we advise "normal certificates"
