How to password protect a folder?

Suppose you have data in your file manager that you do not want to be viewed by the outside world or by bots, for example? 

In this knowledge base article, we will show you how.

Step 1

Log in to DirectAdmin. If you don't know how, check out the following article: https://mijn.host/kb/hoe-log-ik-in-op-directadmin/

Step 2

Go to Advanced Features and then to Password Protected Directories.

Step 3

In the next screen, click on Add Protected Directory.

Step 4

Now you can select the directory you want to secure with a password. At the Protected Directory Prompt, you can leave a message explaining why the directory is protected, this is optional. Next, you can set which user is allowed access and, of course, with what password.

It may take a few minutes for the password to become active for the directory.
