How can I enable 2FA in DirectAdmin?

Security is important, and we believe so too at mijn.host. That is why 2FA (2 Factor Authentication) is a useful extra security layer. This can of course be enabled for the mijn.host control panel. (Our advice is to always enable this.)

Additionally, 2FA security can also be enabled for the DirectAdmin login. This means that a second step is also required here to be able to log in to your hosting package.

Make sure you have installed a 2FA app!
Before you perform these steps, make sure you have a 2FA app on your phone. (for example Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.)

How do I enable 2FA in DirectAdmin?

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin. Don't know how? You can read that here: Logging in to DirectAdmin
  2. Go to "Advanced Features" in the menu and click on "Two-Step Authentication".
  1. Then click on "Generate Secret".
  2. Scan the QR code with your 2FA app.
  3. Test your code in the QR code field before activating.
  1. If the testing was successful, enter a description that will appear in your 2FA app. Then check the box:
Require valid Two-Step Authentication Code to login to this account.
  1. Click on save and you're done. Your DirectAdmin is now secured with a 2FA setup.
