Can I use OCSP stapling on my hosting plan?

For the secure use of SSL certificates, it is necessary to check the validity of the certificate. Every time an HTTPS connection is established in the browser, it is important that the browser checks the validity of the SSL certificate with the CA, the issuer of the certificate.

What is OCSP stapling?

With this method, the SSL server (the server where your website is hosted) is the intermediary between the browser and the CA. The server where the certificate is installed then provides the browser with the OCSP result. The advantage of this is that the visitor's browser does not need to make a separate request to the CA (and is therefore faster). The OCSP result is digitally signed and includes a timestamp from the CA. This is therefore completely trustworthy and secure.

Benefits of OCSP stapling

Using OCSP stapling has several benefits:

  • Faster loading times for your website
  • Higher ranking in Google due to faster loading times
  • Higher score in Google PageSpeed
  • Higher score in SSL Labs (tip: test our website to see the result, we use OCSP stapling)
