Is a migration service included with my hosting?
We understand that transferring a website comes with quite a few concerns. Also, some technical knowledge is often required to ensure the migration runs flawlessly.
Migration service included for free
If you purchase a hosting package at mijn.host, we can help you migrate your website to your new hosting package with us. Starting from the Basic, WP Basic, Reseller professional, and E-mail business hosting packages, there are a specific number of websites / mail accounts that we migrate for free. (see the bottom of this page for the conditions and number of websites/mail accounts) We have an expert team ready to help you with transferring your website. This is also possible for advanced sites.
Should you purchase a reseller hosting package, you can also use the free migration service, depending on the number of websites. Please contact us to discuss the options.
Frequently asked questions about our migration service
What is transferred with the migration service?
With our migration service, the following is transferred:
- Website files
- Databases
- E-mail addresses including content (in most cases)
- Domain name
How does a normal website migration work?
You can easily request the transfer code for the domain name you wish to transfer from your current provider. After that, we will ask you for the login details of the hosting package at your current hosting provider. We will then make a backup of the website. The backup will be restored on the new environment that you can purchase from us. When the migration is completed, you will receive a completion email from us with all the necessary details.
Can you migrate my e-mail as well?
In most cases this is possible, we are happy to help you with this.
Can I also migrate my website myself?
That is certainly possible. Keep in mind that if you only transfer your domain name, your website files (and e-mail) will not be transferred automatically. You therefore need to do this manually. You can transfer this via FTP, for example.

Will I experience downtime when I migrate my website?
We always try to migrate the website without causing any downtime. However, downtime may occur during a website migration. Should this be critical, please contact us to discuss the options.
Are my domains also transferred for free?
Our free migration service takes care of the transfer of, for example, the website, database, and e-mail. However, domain names fall outside this service. Transferring a domain is subject to our domain transfer costs, which can be found here, and are billed afterwards.
How do I use this migration service?
Make sure you are in possession of a transfer code for your domain name. We need this to transfer the website. Next, order hosting via our website.

Conditions to consider
- The migration service must be requested within 30 days after ordering the hosting package.
- Per hosting package, we apply a limit on the maximum number of websites we migrate for free:
Hosting package Starter: This package does not include a free migration service (contact us for the possibilities)
Hosting package Basic: Maximum 5 websites
Hosting package Advance: Maximum 7 websites
Hosting package Ultimate: Maximum 10 websites
Hosting package WP Start: This package does not include a free migration service (contact us for the possibilities)
Hosting package WP Basic: Maximum 5 websites
Hosting package WP Expert: Maximum 10 websites
Reseller Business: This package does not include a free migration service (contact us for the possibilities)
Reseller Professional: Maximum 10 websites
Reseller Enterprise: Maximum 20 websites
Reseller Premium: Maximum 30 websites
E-mail Personal: This package does not include a free migration service (contact us for the possibilities)
E-mail Business: All mail accounts
E-mail Enterprise: All mail accounts - You can request the migration service 1 time for free per hosting package, taking the above limits into account. Therefore, we do not migrate in parts (for example, multiple requests to migrate 1 website at a time)
- Should you want us to migrate more websites than the above limits, please contact us for the extra costs
- Keep in mind that we do not cancel your package with your previous provider for you, you must do this yourself
- For resellers who want to request a full migration of DirectAdmin/cPanel for all users, we can provide a quote. Please contact us for this.
Exceptions for the migration service
In most cases, we can migrate your website without any problems, but there are a few exceptions.
In the following cases, we can not migrate your website:
- If you are currently using a Sitebuilder/Website maker where you do not have FTP access
- If your website is hosted at Wix (this is also a sitebuilder)
- Although NodeJS/Python or Ruby apps are supported on our platform, you must migrate these apps yourself
- If your website is hosted by WordPress.com, we can partially migrate your website. WordPress.com is different from the open-source WordPress.org and is very limited. In this article you can find more info about what we can and cannot migrate. If it is still not entirely clear, please feel free to contact our support for additional explanation. In summary:
- We can transfer the website content via an XML export. (This includes the pages, posts, comments, products, and media.)
- We cannot transfer the plugins and themes. (But often there is a WordPress.org variant available that you can use.)
