Enable two-factor (2FA) authentication

At mijn.host, it is possible to enable two-factor authentication for your account. With two-factor authentication, you protect your account with an extra layer of security. In this article, we explain how to enable two-factor authentication on your account.

Step 1

To use two-factor authentication, it is important that you first download an application on your smartphone. You can choose, for example, the Google Authenticator app for iPhone or Android.

Step 2

Log in to the control panel at mijn.host. Navigate to the menu in the top right (user icon), and click on "My details". On this page, you will find the heading "Two-factor authentication". Enable Two-factor authentication here, and a QR code will be displayed along with a secret.

Step 3

Now open the authentication app on your phone (for example, Google Authenticator). Add a new account in the app. You will then be given the option to scan a QR code. Next, scan the QR code from step 2.

Step 4

The app on your phone will now scan the QR code and add this new account. You will then see a code that you can enter in the control panel. Enter this code and click on "Save changes". Two-factor authentication is now set up!

If you log in to the control panel again, you will be asked for a two-factor authentication code. This code can be generated from the app on your smartphone. Each code is valid for 30 seconds, so if it takes too long before you submit the code, it may expire and a new code must be entered.

Disable two-factor authentication

If you wish to disable two-factor authentication, this is done in the same way as you enabled it. You log in to the control panel and navigate to "My details". Here you turn off two-factor authentication. Your account is now accessible again without two-factor authentication.

Lost access to 2FA app

If you no longer have access to the phone with which you set up this code, or if you have deleted the app, you can send an email to support@mijn.host. We will be happy to assist you so that you can regain access to your account.
