Set up an email account on Android via Gmail

If you have web hosting with mijn.host and have already created an email account, you can add this created email account in Android. In this article, we explain how you can add an email account in the Gmail Email application in Android.

Before you can add an email account, a mail account must first be created in your hosting package. See this article on how to create a mail account.

1. Open the Gmail app on your Android device, if you already have an email account you will see the screen below. If not, you will immediately be asked to add an email account, in that case go to step 3. If you see the screen below, click on your profile picture in the top right.

1. Now a pop-up with existing email accounts will appear. Click here on the option to add another account.

1. Select the last option on this screen if you are using a standard email account. (So not a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account, for example.)

1. Enter your email address on this page.

1. Choose the 'IMAP' option on this page if you want your emails to be synchronized with the server. If you do not want this, choose 'POP'. In this example, we use 'IMAP'.

   

2. Now enter your password and then click the button in the bottom right.

1. Enter your incoming server settings on this screen. Once you have done this, click the button in the bottom right.

1. Enter your outgoing server settings on this screen. Once you have done this, click the button in the bottom right.

1. On this screen, you configure the settings to your own preference. The default settings are fine. After this, click the button at the bottom right again.

1. Enter your account name on this screen, your created email address is fine here. In the 2nd field, enter your own name or how you want people to see the email address, this can also be your company name. After this, click the button at the bottom right again.

Your email account has now been successfully set up on your Android phone via the Gmail app!
