Set up email account on Android
If you have web hosting with mijn.host and have already created an email account, you can add this created email account in Android. In this article, we explain how to add an email account in the default Email application in Android.
Before you can add an email account, a mail account must first be created in your hosting package. See this article on how to create a mail account.
In this article, we use a Samsung device with Android as a reference. Please note that not every Android device uses the same 'Email' application. It is therefore possible that some images and steps from this article look slightly different on your Android device. The steps in that case are comparable, so you can still add your email address.
1. Add a new email account
Open the Email application from the home screen, or from the menu with all applications.
Optional: Instead of opening the Email application, another way is to go to the "Settings" of the device itself. Then go to "Accounts", followed by "Email" and "Add account".
If you have not yet set up an email account on your device, you will immediately be asked to set up an email account.
If you have already added another email account within the 'Email' application, go to "Settings" within the application, followed by "Add account".
The next screen asks for the account type. Choose Other here.
2. Enter email address
Enter the email address of the created mail account, along with the password you have set.
Then click on Manual setup.
Choose IMAP account for account type.
3. Enter server settings
In this step you enter the server settings for your email address.
Under the heading "Account" you enter the following details:
| Account | |
| Email address | Enter your email address here |
| Username | Enter your email address here again |
| Password | Enter the password of your email account here |
Under the heading "Incoming server" you enter the following details.
| Incoming server | |
| IMAP server | mail.your-domain.com Replace your-domain.com with your actual domain name |
| Security type | SSL (accept all certificates) |
| IMAP path prefix | Leave this field empty |
Under the heading "Outgoing server", enter the following details:
| Outgoing server | |
| SMTP server | mail.your-domain.com Replace your-domain.com with your actual domain name |
| Security type | SSL (accept all certificates) |
| Port | 465 |
| Authentication for sending email | Checked (important!) |
| Username | Enter your email address here |
| Password | Enter the password for your email account here |
Now press "Log in" to add the email account.
On some Android devices, you will now get the option to choose additional settings for the email account and to specify the account name and sender name.
The email address has now been successfully set up. You can now use your email address via the "Email" application for Android.
