Renew DKIM via DirectAdmin
In this article, we explain how you can easily activate (or deactivate) the DKIM settings for your domain via DirectAdmin. With DKIM, you ensure that your outgoing emails are cryptographically signed. This allows receiving mail servers to recognize that the emails are genuinely from your domain. This increases the chance that your emails will land neatly in the inbox, rather than in the spam folder.
Enable (or reset) DKIM
Follow the steps below to enable DKIM in DirectAdmin:
1. Log in to DirectAdmin
Log in to DirectAdmin. If you don't know how to do this, check out this article: https://mijn.host/kb/webhosting/hoe-log-ik-in-op-directadmin
2. Go to E-mail Manager > E-mail Accounts
In the left menu, click on E-mail Manager and then on E-mail Accounts.
3. Click on the blue button “ENABLE DKIM” or “DISABLE DKIM”
- Does it say ENABLE DKIM? Then DKIM is not yet active. Click on it to enable it.
- Does it say DISABLE DKIM? Then DKIM is already active.
You can then first disable it by clicking on DISABLE DKIM and then enable it again with ENABLE DKIM. This resets the DKIM settings (which is useful for DNS issues, for example).
Are you using a different DNS provider?
If your domain does not use our nameservers, you can manually copy the DKIM TXT record:
- In DirectAdmin, go to Account Manager > DNS Management.
- Find the record that starts with:x._domainkey.your-domain.com.
- Copy the full value of this TXT record and add it to the DNS management of your own provider.
Make sure you copy the entire record exactly, including quotation marks (if required by the provider).
