Add an email account in the Apple Mail App for Mac

If you have web hosting with mijn.host and have already created an email account, you can add this created email account to the Mail app for Mac. The Mail app for Mac is installed by default on every Mac computer (iMac/MacBook).



1. Add new email account

Open the Mail app for Mac. Navigate to the main menu, click on Mail > Add account...

In the next screen, choose "Other Mail Account..." and click on "Continue".

2. Enter email address

In the next screen, enter your name, the email address of the account you created and the password. Then click on "Sign In".

Enter the password of your email account here

Incoming mail server

mail.uw-domein.nl

Replace uw-domein.nl with your actual domain name

Outgoing mail server

mail.uw-domein.nl

Enter the details and ignore the message "Unable to verify account name or password", click on "Sign In". The account will now be added.

4. Other settings 

Check if the settings are correct via Mail > Preferences, in the Server Settings tab.

It is possible that a port number needs to be specified for the incoming and outgoing server. In that case, you can use the following values:

Incoming settings (IMAP):

Use SSL

Outgoing settings (SMTP):

Use SSL

Yes

Server port

587 (or 465 if you get an error message)
