Add an email account to an iPhone

If you have web hosting with mijn.host and have already created an email account, you can add this created email account on the iPhone. In this article, we explain how you can add an email account in the default mail application on the iPhone.

This manual was written for iOS 13. In newer versions, the images may differ slightly.


1. Add a new email account

Go to your iPhone settings. Choose "Passwords & Accounts" in the menu.

In the next screen, choose "Add Account".

In the next screen, you will see multiple providers. Here we choose "Other".

2. Enter email address

In the next screen, enter the following details:

NameFirst name Last name
EmailYour created email address on the web hosting
So this is not a hotmail or gmail address.
PasswordThe password for your email address
DescriptionYou will see this description in the mailbox, you can change this later

3. Enter server settings

In this step, you enter the server settings for your email address. You can choose between IMAP or POP here. In this manual, we assume IMAP. With IMAP, the emails are kept on the server, which has advantages.

Under the heading "Incoming Mail Server" enter the following details:

Incoming Mail Server
Host Namemail.uw-domein.nl
Replace uw-domein.nl with your actual domain name
UsernameEnter your email address here
PasswordEnter the password for your email account here

Under the heading "Outgoing Mail Server", you enter exactly the same details as above. It may say SMTP server, which means the same thing.

4. Other settingen 

Your email account has now been successfully set up on the iPhone! A port number may need to be specified for the incoming and outgoing server. In that case, you can use the following values:

Incoming settings (IMAP):

Use SSLYes
Server port993

Outgoing settings (SMTP):

Use SSLYes
Server port587 (or 465 if you receive an error message)
