What does a .dk domain cost with a registrar?
When your .dk domain moves to registrar management, the renewal price is what matters most in the long run. Here is an overview of what you pay for and what to look out for.
What has it cost with Punktum dk?
If you have held your domain directly with Punktum dk, you have paid the registry's own renewal price – around DKK 72.50 per year incl. VAT in 2026. That option disappears once all domains must be under registrar management.
What determines the price with a registrar?
The registrar pays Punktum dk for the domain and sets its own price for you. The difference covers administration, support and invoicing. Prices vary a lot – from a few kroner above Punktum dk's price to several hundred kroner per year with providers that bundle the domain with other services.
What to look out for
- The renewal price – not the introductory price. A cheap first year says nothing about what you pay in year two.
- VAT. Check whether the price includes VAT.
- Fees. Transfer fees, setup fees, "administration fees" or fees for moving away again.
- Required purchases. Some providers require hosting or a subscription to manage the domain.
- Automatic renewal and notice. Are you told in good time before the domain renews or expires?
Is the transfer free?
The transfer to registrar management itself costs nothing at Punktum dk, and it should not cost anything with the registrar either. The period you have already paid for carries over to the new registrar, so you don't pay twice.
