How to switch your .dk domain to registrar management – step by step

If you hold a .dk domain directly with Punktum dk, you will at some point need to choose a registrar to manage it. It takes a few minutes, and your domain keeps working throughout. We recommend an authorisation code (Auth-ID) – then the transfer to my.host goes through immediately. You can also use Fast-Track in Punktum dk's self-service portal.

Before you start

• Find your user ID (Bruger-id) with Punktum dk if you need to log in. It is at the top of the email from Punktum dk. You can also log in with MitID or the email address registered on the domain.
• Decide which registrar you want to use. If you choose my.host, the transfer is free and renewal costs DKK 79 per year incl. VAT.

Recommended: Generate an authorisation code (Auth-ID)

This is the fastest way to my.host. Once we have the code, the transfer goes through immediately.

1. Log in at selvbetjening.punktum.dk.
2. Click Domænenavne (domain names) and select the domain.
3. Select Skift forhandler (change registrar) or Skift til forhandlerhåndtering (switch to registrar management), and click Generer ny kode (generate new code).
4. Copy the authorisation code (Auth-ID). It typically starts with OWN-TRANSFER- and is valid for 14 days. If it expires, simply generate a new one.
5. Enter the code in the form on the domain transfer page.

If you do not have a code, you can fill in the form with your domain name and user ID instead. That typically takes 24–48 hours.

Alternative: Fast-Track in the self-service portal

Punktum dk can send the transfer directly to my.host (Fast-Track). You do not need a code, and the switch happens immediately in the self-service portal.

1. Go to selvbetjening.punktum.dk and log in with MitID, your user ID or email.
2. Click Domænenavne and find the domain you want to transfer.
3. Select Skift til forhandlerhåndtering (or Skift forhandler) under Administrer.
4. Find my.host in the list. Registrars you are already a customer of appear at the top.
5. Tick Ja, jeg er indforstået med at… (Yes, I agree that…) and click Gennemfør flyt hos forhandler (complete transfer with registrar).

Without logging in

If you cannot log in, Punktum dk can send you a link to your authorisation code. After that, use the recommended method above.

1. Go to the front page of selvbetjening.punktum.dk.
2. Find the box Flyt dit .dk-domænenavn til forhandlerhåndtering (transfer your .dk domain to registrar management).
3. Enter your domain name and click Send link.
4. Punktum dk sends a link to the email address registered on the domain. Follow the link and copy the code.

What happens next?

• With an Auth-ID or Fast-Track, the transfer typically goes through immediately. Without a code (user ID only) it usually takes 24–48 hours.
• Your website, email, name servers and DNS settings are not touched. Everything works as before.
• The period you have already paid for with Punktum dk carries over. You lose nothing.
• From now on you receive one invoice – from your registrar.

Common problems

• The code has expired. Generate a new one under Skift forhandler.
• The domain is already with another registrar. You can still switch. Use Skift forhandler – you do not need to cancel the current registrar first.
• You cannot log in. Use the method without logging in, or contact Punktum dk's customer service.
